Nassau V. M. Coliseum is a terrible venue.

I went to the game that didn't feature my team because I wanted to see the venue that's managed to hold back the Islanders from any sort of free agent playing there (I mean, now that Milbury is gone. Not that Snow is a genius or anything, but Milbury? Come on). I have to say that the Mariucci Arena at the University of Minnesota is better than this old venue. The Ridder arena (where the women play) has a scoreboard that you can see from every seat too, so they're at least on par with the Coliseum. Anyway, all bashing aside, I was super glad that I went to a game before the Islanders moved to the Barclays Center. It's something that every fan should see so they can appreciate the innovations in the newer arenas... like cup holders. Sorry, I couldn't resist one last jab.

Upset with seats

when purchasing the seats for the NYR/Islanders preseason game i dont believe it was it disclaimed that they were obstructed view until i downloaded the app to get the tickets ready. My seats were in row W (last row, OK thats all i could find with 2 seats together) but after we got there row W doesn't even exist. it must be their standing section where they put some fold out chairs and wrote row W on the ground. was less then pleased to have my wife who is pregnant sit in this tight uncomfortable chair. looking at tickets now for sound tiger games you cant even purchase the row W for any game

Parking

The arena is beautiful. Getting there from the parking lot via shuttle was organized and painless. However I couldn’t find a 12 oz of beer anywhere. Who wants a 16-20 oz? If you don’t drink it fast enough the last of your beer would be piss-warm. That being said, experience inside the arena was great, especially no line for the ladies room. Getting out was a nightmare. It took me 45 minutes to leave the parking lot. Then I couldn’t get to the cross island northbound. Had no choice but to go on southbound and sat in traffic on the southern state for another 45 minutes. Not for anything, after watching them lose, taking an hour and half to get home was adding salt to the wound.
